Danish passport holders can enter Armenia without a visa for up to 180 days per calendar year. This applies to tourism, business meetings, and short-term visits. No prior application or fee is needed — just show up at the border with your passport.

Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Danish passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Armenia. Border officers at Zvartnots Airport in Yerevan check this at arrival. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required.
Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Armenia
Immigration at Yerevan airport may ask for a return or onward ticket before they stamp you in. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready. This is not always checked, but airlines often enforce it at check-in.
Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Armenia ready. Border officers occasionally ask for this, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A printed booking confirmation works fine.
Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Carry enough cash or a credit card to cover your expenses. Immigration may ask how you plan to fund your trip. A bank statement or a few hundred euros in cash usually satisfies them.
Recommended
180 days per year, not per visit
The 180-day visa-free period is counted per calendar year, not per entry. If you stay 90 days, leave, and come back, the clock keeps ticking. Plan your total time in Armenia carefully to avoid overstaying.
Overstaying is expensive
Overstaying your visa-free period by even one day can result in a fine of around 50,000 AMD (about €120) and a possible entry ban. If you overstay more than 30 days, the fine increases and you may be barred from re-entering for up to 5 years.
What happens at the border
1
Arrive at the border
At Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport or any land border crossing, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Present your passport
Hand over your passport to the officer. They'll check your validity and blank page. They may ask your purpose of visit and how long you plan to stay.
3
Answer questions if asked
Common questions: 'How long are you staying?' and 'Where are you staying?' Answer clearly. If you have a return ticket, mention it.
4
Receive your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the entry date and allowed stay period. Check the stamp before walking away — it should show up to 180 days.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim (if arriving by air), then customs. There's no customs declaration form for most personal items.
Enter your arrival date and we'll tell you exactly when you need to leave.

No. The visa-free stay is capped at 180 days per calendar year. If you overstay, you'll face fines and possible entry bans. There is no extension option for visa-free stays. For longer stays, you'd need to apply for a temporary residence permit before your 180 days expire.
No. Armenia does not require foreign visitors to register with the police or migration authorities. You're free to move around the country without reporting your location.
Yes. The visa-free policy applies at all land borders — from Georgia (at Bagratashen, Sadakhlo, or Bavra) and from Iran (at Meghri). The same 180-day limit applies. The process is the same as at the airport: passport check, stamp, and you're in.
You must leave before your passport expires. Armenian immigration requires your passport to be valid for the entire duration of your stay. If it expires while you're in the country, you'll be considered overstaying and may face fines or deportation. Renew your passport before traveling.
No. The visa-free entry is for tourism, business meetings, and short-term visits only. If you plan to work (paid or unpaid) or study, you need to apply for the appropriate visa or residence permit before arriving. Working on a visa-free stay is illegal and can result in deportation and a ban.
No. There is no departure tax for any passenger leaving Armenia by air or land. The cost is included in your airline ticket or not charged at all.
Report the loss immediately to the local police and get a police report. Then contact the Danish Embassy in Yerevan (or the nearest EU consulate) to apply for an emergency travel document. You'll need the police report and a passport photo. The embassy can issue a temporary passport, usually within 1-2 working days.
