United Kingdom entry requirements for Denmark passport holders
Danish passport holders can visit the UK for tourism, business, or family visits without a visa for up to 180 days per visit. This policy has been in place since the UK left the EU and remains unchanged in 2026. However, since January 8, 2025, you must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before your trip.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)You must get this online approval before you fly – it's not a visa, but it's mandatory. Visa-free entry with online pre-authorisation | Danish citizens do not need a traditional visa for the UK, but must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (evisa) before travel. Apply online via the official UK government portal. The ETA is valid for multiple entries and allows stays of up to 6 months per visit. Processing typically takes up to 3 working days. | Required |
| Passport validityYour passport must not expire soon – check the expiry date is at least 6 months away. At least 6 months from date of arrival | Your Danish passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended date of arrival in the UK. Ensure your passport meets this requirement before booking travel. | Required |
| Blank passport pagesMake sure there's an empty page in your passport for the UK border officer to stamp. At least 1 blank page | Your passport must have at least 1 blank page for entry stamps. This is a standard requirement for border control. | Required |
| Return or onward ticketIt's a good idea to have a ticket showing you plan to leave the UK – it helps prove you're a genuine visitor. Not explicitly required, but recommended | UK border officials may ask for evidence of your return or onward travel. While not a formal requirement for Danish citizens, carrying a copy of your return ticket or itinerary is strongly advised to avoid delays. | Recommended |
| Proof of fundsBe ready to show you can pay for your trip – a bank statement or credit card usually works. Not explicitly required, but recommended | You may be asked to show you have sufficient funds for your stay. There is no fixed amount, but having access to at least £50 per day (or equivalent) is a common guideline. Carry bank statements or credit cards as evidence. | Recommended |
| Arrival declarationYou don't need to fill in any extra forms when you land – just go through passport control. Not required | No arrival declaration (such as a landing card or online form) is required for Danish citizens entering the UK. | Not required |

- If you are transiting through the UK to Ireland (Common Travel Area), you must have a valid ETA and meet the normal entry requirements.
- If you have a criminal record or have previously been refused entry to the UK, you may need to apply for a visa before travelling.
