Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Myanmar eVisa at the official eVisa portal. Processing takes about 3–5 business days, and you'll receive an approval letter by email. Print the letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Yangon, Mandalay, and Naypyidaw airports will stamp you in on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity
Your Danish passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Myanmar. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration officers enforce it strictly — no exceptions.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. If you're flying in and out of different airports, that's fine — just show the next flight out of Myanmar.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
While not always checked, having a hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from a host can smooth things over if an officer asks. Keep a printed copy or have it accessible on your phone.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Officers may ask to see evidence of sufficient funds for your stay. Carry a recent bank statement or a credit card with a decent limit. There's no fixed minimum, but showing you can cover accommodation and daily expenses helps.Recommended
eVisa only valid at airports
The Myanmar eVisa is only accepted at international airports. If you plan to enter by land from Thailand, India, or China, you need a different visa — check with the nearest Myanmar embassy.
Keep a printed copy of your eVisa
Immigration officers prefer a paper copy. Print it before you leave home. Also save a PDF on your phone as backup.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 USD) with a credit card. You'll get a confirmation email.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive an approval email with your eVisa attached as a PDF. Print it and save a copy on your phone.
3
Arrive at the airport
At Yangon International Airport (RGN), Mandalay International Airport (MDL), or Naypyidaw International Airport (NYT), go to the immigration counter. Present your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp your passport and let you through.
4
Complete arrival formalities
You may be asked to fill out an arrival card (usually provided on the plane). Keep your hotel address handy. After immigration, collect your luggage and proceed to customs.
