Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Danish passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Paraguay. Paraguay does not enforce a 6-month validity rule for Danish passport holders, but airlines may ask for at least 3 months remaining.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Paraguay. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a recent bank statement or a credit card showing available funds. Paraguay does not publish a minimum amount, but showing you can cover your stay (around $50 USD per day) keeps things smooth.Recommended
Passport validity counts from arrival, not departure
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Paraguay. If it expires sooner, you'll be turned away even if you plan to leave before it expires.
No visa extensions available
The 90-day visa-free period cannot be extended. If you overstay, you'll face daily fines and possible entry restrictions. Plan your exit accordingly.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport (ASU)
Most flights land in Asunción. After deplaning, follow signs to 'Migración' (Immigration). The queue moves quickly, but peak hours (late afternoon) can be slower.
2
Present your passport at the immigration counter
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket or accommodation proof. Answer clearly. They'll stamp you in for up to 90 days.
3
Collect your luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, grab your bags from the carousel. Customs is usually a green/red channel system. If you have nothing to declare, walk through the green channel.
4
Exit the arrivals hall
Once through customs, you're free to leave. Taxis and ride-shares are available outside. Keep your passport handy for any random checks.
