Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Myanmar eVisa at the official eVisa portal. Processing takes up to 3 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration will stamp the visa on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
6 months validity required
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Myanmar. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration at Yangon and Mandalay airports routinely asks for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. Without one, you risk being refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Immigration may ask for your hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Have a printed copy or a screenshot on your phone ready to show.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Carry at least $300 USD in cash or a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration rarely checks this, but having it avoids delays if asked.Recommended
eVisa only valid at specific airports
You must enter Myanmar through Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw international airports. If you arrive at any other airport or a land border, you'll be denied entry. Double-check your flight itinerary.
Keep your arrival card
When you go through immigration, you'll be given a small arrival card. Don't lose it — you'll need to hand it back when you leave Myanmar. If you lose it, expect delays and a small fine at departure.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 USD) by credit card. Processing takes 3–5 business days, sometimes faster.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with a PDF attachment. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. The eVisa is valid for 90 days from the issue date, but you can only stay up to 28 days per entry.
3
Arrive at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airport
eVisa holders must enter through one of these three international airports. At immigration, present your passport, eVisa printout (or digital copy), and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in for up to 28 days. Keep the arrival card they give you — you'll need it when leaving.

Frequently asked questions

No. Myanmar does not offer visa on arrival for Estonian passport holders. You must apply for an eVisa online before you travel.
Typically 3–5 business days, but it can be faster. Apply at least a week before your flight to be safe. The fee is around $50 USD, paid by credit card.
No. The eVisa is single-entry and cannot be extended. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to leave and re-enter with a new eVisa, or apply for a different visa type (like a business visa) before travel.
Renew your passport first. The 6-month validity is counted from your entry date into Myanmar, not your departure. If your passport has less than 6 months left, your eVisa application will be rejected.
No, there's no official requirement to show bank statements or cash. But it's wise to have enough money for your stay — credit cards are not widely accepted outside major hotels and restaurants.
No. The eVisa is only valid for entry by air at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw international airports. Land border crossings are not permitted with this visa type.
Overstaying is taken seriously. You'll be fined $3 USD per day for each day overstayed, and you may be detained or banned from re-entering. Always leave before your 28 days are up.
