Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Armenian eVisa at evisa.mfa.am. Processing takes 2–3 working days. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport — border control checks the eVisa against their system.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Armenia does not enforce a 6-month validity rule — your passport just needs to be valid for the duration of your visit.Required
Return or onward ticket
May be checked at check-in
Airlines flying to Yerevan often ask for proof of onward travel at check-in. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border control rarely asks for it, but having a hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host smooths things out if questioned.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Not routinely checked, but carry a bank statement or enough cash (around $50 per day) to cover your stay if an officer asks.Recommended
eVisa only for tourism and short visits
The Armenian eVisa is valid for tourism, business meetings, and family visits. If you plan to work, study, or stay longer than 120 days, you need a different visa type — apply at the Armenian embassy in Cairo.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa, passport, and booking confirmations as PDFs on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose your phone, you can still access them from another device.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.mfa.am, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive the approved eVisa by email.
2
Pack your documents
Print a copy of the eVisa approval, or save it on your phone. Also have your passport, return ticket, and hotel booking confirmation easily accessible.
3
Arrive at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the passport control queue. Have your passport and eVisa ready. The officer may ask to see your return ticket and hotel booking. Answer any questions clearly.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
Once your passport is stamped, proceed to baggage claim, then exit into the arrivals hall. You're free to start your trip.
