Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Taiwan. Taiwan immigration checks this strictly — airlines also verify before boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Taoyuan Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Taiwan. Immigration may ask for it during the entry interview.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or bank statement
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you can support yourself during the stay. Taiwan does not publish a fixed minimum, but around 500 USD equivalent is a safe benchmark.Recommended
No visa on arrival — apply well in advance
Egyptian passport holders cannot get a Taiwan visa at the airport. You must apply and receive approval before departure. Start the process at least 4–6 weeks before your trip to allow for processing and any delays.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the day you arrive in Taiwan, not the day you apply. If your passport expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Gather your passport (valid 6+ months), completed visa application form, return flight booking, hotel confirmation, travel insurance, and two passport photos. Make copies of everything.
2
Submit online application and book interview
Go to the Bureau of Consular Affairs visa portal (visawebapp.boca.gov.tw), fill out the form, and schedule an in-person appointment at the Taiwanese embassy or consulate in your region (e.g., Cairo, or the nearest office if you're outside Egypt).
3
Attend the visa interview
Show up at the appointed time with all original documents plus photocopies. The officer will review your application, ask about your travel plans, and may request additional documents. Pay the visa fee (typically $50–$100 USD, varies by mission).
4
Wait for processing
Standard processing takes 5–10 business days, but can take longer. Do not book non-refundable flights until you receive your visa.
5
Collect your visa and travel
Once approved, your passport will be stamped or you'll receive a visa sticker. Check the validity dates. At Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) or Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH), present your passport and visa at immigration. Have your return ticket and hotel booking ready.
