Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Colombia
Your Spanish passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your trip. Colombia does not require 6 months of remaining validity beyond your departure date, but airlines sometimes enforce it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Check-Mig pre-registrationCheck-Mig: Colombia's mandatory online pre-registration form at migracioncolombia.gov.co. Complete it within 72 hours before your flight — it takes under 5 minutes.
Mandatory online form for all travellers
Complete the free Check-Mig form at migracioncolombia.gov.co within 72 hours before your flight. It takes under 5 minutes — enter your passport details, flight info, and accommodation address. Save the confirmation QR code on your phone; immigration officers scan it on arrival.Open Check-Mig formRequired
Return or onward ticket
Proof you will leave Colombia within 90 days
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward flight booking. A refundable ticket or a bus ticket to a neighbouring country works. Have a printed or digital copy ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have your hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or a letter from your host ready. Officers rarely ask for it, but it speeds things up if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to funds. There is no fixed minimum amount for Spanish passport holders, but having around 200–300 USD equivalent per day of stay is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Check-Mig is mandatory
Complete the free online form at migracioncolombia.gov.co between 72 hours and 1 hour before your flight. Without it, you may be denied boarding or entry. Save the confirmation — you'll need it at check-in and immigration.
Overstaying costs money
If you stay beyond 90 days, you'll be fined about 2-3 USD per day. Pay at immigration when you leave. Overstaying can also make future entries harder.

What happens at the border

1
Complete Check-Mig online
Go to migracioncolombia.gov.co and fill in the free form. Do this between 72 hours and 1 hour before your flight. Save the confirmation PDF or screenshot — you'll need it at check-in and immigration.
2
At the airport in Spain
At check-in, show your passport and the Check-Mig confirmation. The airline may also ask for your return ticket. Boarding is straightforward.
3
Arrival at Colombian airport
At Bogotá (El Dorado), Medellín, or Cartagena, follow signs to 'Migración' or 'Extranjeros'. Hand over your passport and Check-Mig confirmation. The officer will stamp you in — usually takes 30 seconds. You'll get a 90-day stay.
4
Exit Colombia
Before leaving, you don't need to do anything special. At the airport, go through emigration — they'll stamp you out. Keep your boarding pass handy.
