Spanish passport holders need an eVisa to visit Myanmar for tourism. The eVisa is valid for 90 days from issue and allows a single entry for up to 28 days. Apply online before you travel — it's straightforward and avoids visa-on-arrival queues at the airport.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Myanmar eVisa at the official eVisa portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days, and you'll receive an approval letter by email. Print the letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Yangon and Mandalay airports will check it before issuing the entry stamp.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity beyond your stay
Your Spanish passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Myanmar. Airlines at Madrid and Barcelona check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Yangon and Mandalay airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready — they may deny entry if you can't show one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your host in Myanmar. Immigration may ask for it during the entry interview, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked tour.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have bank statements or a credit card ready to demonstrate you have at least $300–$500 for your trip. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you'll need to show you can pay for accommodation and expenses.Recommended
eVisa only for airports
The eVisa is only valid for entry at Yangon, Mandalay, and Naypyidaw international airports. If you plan to enter by land from Thailand or India, you need a different visa — apply at a Myanmar embassy before travel.
Keep a digital copy of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, passport photo, return ticket, and hotel booking in a cloud folder (Google Drive, Dropbox). If you lose your phone or papers, you can still access them.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around $50 USD). Processing usually takes 3 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email as a PDF.
2
Print your eVisa and pack your documents
Print a paper copy of the eVisa — some airlines check it before boarding. Also print or save on your phone: your passport, return ticket, first night hotel booking, and travel insurance details.
3
Arrive at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airport
Most international flights land at Yangon International Airport (RGN). Follow signs to 'Immigration' — there's a separate lane for eVisa holders. Have your passport, printed eVisa, and boarding pass ready.
4
Go through immigration
Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer will stamp your passport with a 28-day entry permit. You may be asked for your return ticket or hotel address — have them ready. The process takes 2-5 minutes.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel, then walk through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're now in Myanmar.
