Have a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough money for your stay. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, a quick glance at your phone banking app works.Recommended

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at the airport
At Tashkent International Airport (or any land border), head to the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport, boarding pass, and return ticket ready. The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 5-10 minutes.
2
During your stay
You can stay up to 30 days total. The visa-free period is not extendable. If you overstay, you'll face fines and possible deportation. Keep your passport with you at all times — police may ask for ID.
3
Departure
At the airport, go through passport control again. They'll check your exit stamp. No exit fee or additional paperwork needed.

Frequently asked questions

No. The visa-free period is not extendable. If you need to stay longer, you must apply for a visa before you travel. Overstaying results in fines (around 50-100 USD) and possible deportation.
If you stay in a hotel, they will register you automatically. If you stay in a private home, your host must register you within 3 days. Failure to register can cause problems when leaving.
You will be denied boarding by the airline or entry at the border. Renew your passport before traveling. No exceptions.
Yes. The same visa-free rules apply at all land border crossings. Just make sure your passport is stamped on entry. Some land crossings have limited hours — check before you go.
If you're transiting through Uzbekistan and staying airside (not passing through immigration), you don't need a visa. But if you want to leave the airport, you'll need the visa-free entry or a visa.
No, but it's strongly recommended. Medical care in Uzbekistan can be expensive for foreigners, and hospitals may require upfront payment. A basic travel insurance policy covering medical evacuation is a good idea.
Uzbekistani som (UZS) is the local currency. ATMs are widely available in Tashkent and major cities, but less so in rural areas. Bring some US dollars or euros as backup — exchange offices give better rates than hotels.
