What happens at the border

1
Contact the Saudi embassy or consulate
Find the Saudi diplomatic mission responsible for your area (e.g., in Addis Ababa). Check their website or call to confirm the exact visa application process, required documents, and appointment scheduling. Some embassies require you to apply in person; others accept applications through authorized travel agencies.
2
Prepare your documents
Gather all required documents: passport, photos, application form, accommodation proof, flight itinerary, and financial evidence. Make photocopies of everything. Ensure your passport has at least 6 months validity and one blank page.
3
Submit your application
Attend your appointment at the embassy/consulate or submit through an approved agency. Submit your form, documents, and pay the fee. You may be asked for biometrics (fingerprints/photo) at this stage. Keep the receipt — you will need it to collect your passport.
4
Wait for processing
Processing times vary — typically 5-10 working days, but can be longer. Check with the embassy for current timelines. You can track your application if the embassy offers that service.
5
Collect your passport with visa
Once approved, your passport will be returned with the visa sticker. Verify the visa details (dates, name spelling) are correct before leaving the embassy. If anything is wrong, ask for a correction immediately.
6
Travel to Saudi Arabia
At Saudi immigration (e.g., King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh or King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah), present your passport with the visa. You will be fingerprinted and photographed. Keep your accommodation and return ticket details handy in case an officer asks.
