Electronic Travel Authorisation
Apply for your ETA-IL at israel-entry.piba.gov.il before departure. The application is free and usually approved instantly — you get a confirmation email. Since August 2024, all visa-exempt nationals must have an approved ETA-IL before boarding.Apply for ETA-ILRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for duration of stay
Your Finnish passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Israel. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Israeli law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Ben Gurion Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready. Overstaying the 90-day visa-free period can result in fines and entry bans.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed or digital copy of your hotel reservation, hostel booking, or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays at the border.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or credit card
Have a recent bank statement or a credit card showing available funds. There is no fixed minimum amount, but showing you can cover your stay (around 300–500 ILS per day) satisfies the officer if asked.Recommended
Entry stamp and onward travel
Your entry stamp is valid for up to 90 days. Make sure your return ticket is booked within that window. Overstaying can lead to fines and future entry issues.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport has less than 6 months validity from your entry date, you will be denied boarding. No exceptions.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you leave Finland, check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date). Book your return or onward ticket. Reserve your first night's accommodation. Download or print your travel insurance policy. Save a screenshot of your eSIM or local SIM purchase.
2
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport (TLV)
You'll go through passport control. Hand over your passport. The officer may ask: purpose of visit, length of stay, where you're staying, and your return flight. Answer clearly and briefly. You'll receive an entry stamp valid for up to 90 days.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, collect your bags from the carousel. Then proceed through customs. There are no additional forms or fees for Finnish citizens.
