Finnish passport holders can get a visa on arrival in Jordan. You'll receive a single-entry visa valid for up to 30 days at any international entry point. This policy has been in place since 2026 and remains the standard procedure.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Finnish passport holders get a free 30-day visa on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport and most land borders. You do not need to apply in advance — just join the visa-on-arrival queue after passport control. The visa is single-entry and cannot be extended.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Jordan. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Queen Alia Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight itinerary ready. If you are overlanding, a bus or ferry ticket out of Jordan works too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation
You may be asked for a hotel reservation or a host's address and phone number at the border. Have a printed booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host ready.Recommended
Cash only at immigration
The visa on arrival fee must be paid in cash. No credit or debit cards accepted. Bring euros, US dollars, or Jordanian dinars. ATMs are available after immigration, but you'll need cash before that point.
30-day stay starts on arrival
Your 30-day visa validity begins the day you enter Jordan, not the day you apply. If you arrive on the 1st, your visa expires on the 30th. Overstaying incurs a fine of 1.5 JOD per day.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at immigration counter
At Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) or any land/sea border, head to the 'Visa on Arrival' counter. There's usually a separate queue for Finns — look for the EU/EEA sign.
2
Fill out the arrival card
You'll receive a small white arrival card on the plane or at the counter. Fill in your passport details, flight number, and accommodation address. Keep it simple — no need for your entire itinerary.
3
Pay the visa fee
The visa fee is 40 JOD (about €53) for a single-entry visa. Pay in cash — Jordanian dinars, euros, or US dollars are accepted. Credit cards are not accepted at the counter. Keep the receipt.
4
Receive your visa sticker
The officer will stamp your passport with a visa sticker valid for 30 days. Check the expiry date before leaving the counter. If you need longer, ask about extending it at a police station later.
5
Proceed to baggage claim and customs
After immigration, collect your luggage and walk through the green channel if you have nothing to declare. Customs is usually quick — just a quick scan of your bags.

Frequently asked questions

The single-entry visa on arrival costs 40 Jordanian Dinars (JOD), which is about €53. You must pay in cash — euros, US dollars, or Jordanian dinars are accepted. Credit cards are not accepted at the immigration counter.
Yes, you can extend your visa once for up to an additional 30 days. Visit any police station or the Immigration Department in Amman. The extension fee is about 20 JOD. You'll need your passport, a passport photo, and the original visa receipt. Processing takes 1–2 business days.
If you're transiting through Queen Alia International Airport and staying airside (not passing immigration), you do not need a visa. If you plan to leave the airport during a layover, you'll need the visa on arrival. The same 40 JOD fee applies.
You will be denied boarding by the airline and refused entry by Jordanian immigration. The 6-month validity is strictly enforced. Renew your passport before traveling.
Yes, the visa on arrival is available at the King Hussein Bridge (Allenby), the Yitzhak Rabin/Wadi Araba crossing, and the Jordan River/Sheikh Hussein crossing. The same 40 JOD fee applies. Note that the King Hussein Bridge closes earlier than the others — check current hours before crossing.
Immigration officers may ask for both, but it's not always checked. Having a printed or digital copy of your hotel booking and onward ticket ready speeds things up. If you're staying with friends, a letter of invitation with their address works.
No, the standard visa on arrival is single-entry only. If you leave Jordan and want to re-enter, you'll need to pay the 40 JOD fee again. For multiple entries, consider applying for a multiple-entry visa in advance at a Jordanian embassy.
