What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-visa online
Go to https://evisa.gov.mz/ and fill out the application form. You'll need to upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page, a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around $50 USD, but check the site for current rates). Processing typically takes 5-7 business days, so apply at least 2 weeks before your trip.
2
Print your e-visa approval
Once approved, you'll receive an email with your e-visa. Print it out and keep it with your passport. You'll need to show it at check-in and at immigration in Maputo or other entry points.
3
Arrive at Maputo International Airport (or other entry point)
When you land, head to the immigration hall. Join the queue for 'Foreigners' (not the SADC line). Have your passport, printed e-visa, and return ticket ready. The officer will check your documents, stamp your passport, and you're through. The process is usually quick if you have everything in order.
4
Proceed to baggage claim and customs
After immigration, collect your bags and walk through customs. There's a green channel if you have nothing to declare. If you're carrying cash over $5,000 USD or restricted items, use the red channel.
