Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Egypt. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required

Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Cairo and Hurghada airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing you leave Egypt within your visa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host ready. Immigration may ask where you're staying — a printed booking confirmation avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry cash (USD or EUR) or a credit card statement showing you have enough for your stay. Officers rarely ask, but having $500–$1,000 equivalent available covers you.Recommended
Apply early — processing takes time
The e-Visa can take up to 7 business days. Don't wait until the last minute. Also, double-check that your passport has at least 6 months validity from your arrival date.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for e-Visa online
Go to visa2egypt.gov.eg, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and passport scan, pay the fee (around $30 USD for single entry), and wait 3–7 business days for approval. You'll receive a PDF by email.
2
Print your e-Visa and pack documents
Print a paper copy of the e-Visa approval. Also have your passport, return ticket, and hotel booking confirmation ready — either printed or saved on your phone.
3
Arrive at Egyptian immigration
At Cairo International or any other airport, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport, printed e-Visa, and boarding pass. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address — have them ready.
4
