Ghanaian passport holders need an eVisa to enter the United Arab Emirates. You must apply and receive approval before you travel — there are no visa-on-arrival options for Ghanaian citizens as of 2026. The eVisa is valid for a single entry and typically allows a stay of up to 30 days.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Ghanaian passport holders need an eVisa to enter the UAE. Apply through the UAE ICA Smart Services portal at least a few days before departure. The eVisa is linked to your passport electronically — print the approval letter and carry it with you.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months
Your passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining from your date of entry into the UAE. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers in the UAE routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
You may be asked to show where you are staying. A hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in the UAE works. Keep a copy on your phone or printed.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Officers can request evidence you can support yourself during your stay. A recent bank statement showing enough balance or a credit card with a decent limit usually satisfies them.Recommended
Apply early — no visa on arrival
Ghanaian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in the UAE. You must have an approved eVisa before you board your flight. Apply at least two weeks in advance to avoid last-minute stress.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa, passport, and return ticket as PDFs on your phone and email them to yourself. If you lose your printed documents, you'll still have access. Also, take a photo of your passport data page.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the ICA Smart Services portal (smartservices.ica.gov.ae) and create an account. Fill in your personal details, upload your passport photo and passport copy, and pay the fee (around 100–150 AED). Submit and wait for approval — typically 3–5 business days.
2
Print or save your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive an email with your eVisa document. Print a copy and save a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival in the UAE.
3
Arrive at a UAE airport
When you land at Dubai International (DXB), Abu Dhabi (AUH), or Sharjah (SHJ), follow signs to 'Passport Control' or 'Immigration'. Have your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket ready. The officer will scan your passport and stamp you in.
4
Proceed to baggage claim and exit
After the immigration stamp, collect your luggage from the carousel and walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no restricted items. You're now free to enter the UAE.
