Ghanaian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Myanmar. The eVisa covers tourism and business visits, and you must apply online before you travel. Since 2026, the eVisa is the standard entry method for most short-term visits.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Myanmar eVisa at the official Ministry of Immigration portal. Processing takes 3–5 working days, and you'll receive an approval letter by email. Print two copies — one for immigration and one for your airline check-in counter.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
6 months validity required
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Myanmar. Airlines at Accra check this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Yangon and Mandalay airports routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed itinerary or e-ticket ready — they may also check that your departure date falls within your eVisa's validity period.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking confirmation
Carry a printed hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from your host in Myanmar. Immigration may ask for your first night's address during the arrival interview.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Officers may ask to see evidence of sufficient funds — around $300–$500 USD equivalent in cash or a recent bank statement. ATMs are available in major cities but unreliable outside Yangon and Mandalay.Recommended
eVisa only valid at airports
Do not plan to enter Myanmar by land with an eVisa. You will be turned away. Only Yangon, Mandalay, and Naypyidaw airports accept eVisa holders.
Keep a printed copy of your eVisa
Phone screens can die or lose signal. Print a paper copy of your eVisa and keep it with your passport. Airlines may ask to see it at check-in.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but can be faster.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa. Print a paper copy and also save a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at a Myanmar airport
eVisa holders can enter through Yangon International Airport, Mandalay International Airport, or Naypyidaw International Airport. Land borders are not valid for eVisa entry.
4
Go through immigration
At the immigration counter, present your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer may ask about your accommodation and purpose of visit. Answer clearly and briefly.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel and proceed through customs. There are no additional forms to fill unless you have goods to declare.
