Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
6 months validity required
Your passport must have at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Morocco. Airlines check this strictly at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave Morocco within 30 days. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed or digital hotel reservation covering your entire stay. If staying with friends or family, have their address and phone number written down — officers sometimes ask.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or card for your stay
Have access to enough money to cover your trip — around 500 MAD (~$50) per day is a safe benchmark. A credit card and some cash (euros or dirhams) works fine.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check your passport validity at check-in. If you have less than 6 months left, you won't be allowed to board. Don't risk it.
Keep a copy of your passport
Take a photo of your passport's main page and keep it in your phone. If your passport is lost or stolen, this makes replacement much faster.

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at Moroccan airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport and boarding pass ready. The officer will stamp your passport and may ask for your return ticket or hotel address. The process usually takes 2-5 minutes.
2
Collect your luggage
After clearing immigration, head to the baggage claim area. Check the screens for your flight number. If your bag doesn't arrive, go to the lost luggage desk before leaving the arrivals hall.
3
Customs clearance
Walk through the green channel if you have nothing to declare. If you're carrying more than 10,000 EUR (or equivalent) in cash, use the red channel and declare it.

Frequently asked questions

No, the 30-day visa-free stay is not extendable. If you want to stay longer, you must leave Morocco and re-enter, or apply for a visa at a Moroccan embassy before your trip.
Overstaying can result in fines, a ban from re-entering Morocco, or both. The fine is typically around 300-600 MAD per day overstayed, but it's at the discretion of immigration officers. Avoid it.
No, Morocco does not require proof of funds for Hong Kong passport holders. But if you look like you might be working illegally, they may ask. Having a credit card and some cash (EUR/USD) is smart.
Yes, you can enter Morocco by land from the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla. The same visa-free rules apply — 30 days. Just have your passport stamped at the border crossing.
No, departure tax is included in your airline ticket. You don't need to pay anything extra at the airport.
You will likely be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry by Moroccan immigration. Get a new passport before you travel.
Officially, no. The visa-free entry is for tourism only. Remote work is a grey area — many digital nomads do it, but technically it's not allowed. Morocco does not have a specific digital nomad visa as of 2026.
