Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Hong Kong passport needs to be valid for at least the length of your stay in Singapore. Singapore does not require 6 months of remaining validity for Hong Kong passport holders, but airlines may still check for it.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Singapore
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at the counter. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight booking ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host's address
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Singapore. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or bank statement
Have at least 1,000 SGD in cash, a bank statement, or a credit card available. Immigration may ask to see proof you can support yourself during the stay.Recommended
SG Arrival Card is mandatory
All travellers must submit an electronic SG Arrival Card within 3 days before arrival. It's free and takes 5 minutes. Do it online or via the MyICA Mobile app. You'll get a confirmation email — keep it handy.
Strict drug laws
Singapore has a zero-tolerance policy on drugs. Possession of even small amounts can lead to the death penalty. Do not bring any drugs, including CBD products or certain prescription medications without a doctor's note. Check the HSA website for restricted medicines.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before you fly
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date) and that you have at least 1 blank page. Book your return/onward ticket and first night's accommodation. Save screenshots of both on your phone.
2
Fill out the SG Arrival Card (online)
All travellers must submit an electronic SG Arrival Card within 3 days before arrival. Go to the ICA website or use the MyICA Mobile app. It's free and takes about 5 minutes. You'll get a confirmation email — save it.
3
Arrive at Changi Airport or other checkpoint
At Changi Airport, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the 'All Passports' queue. Have your passport, SG Arrival Card confirmation, and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day visit pass.
4
Collect your luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. If you have nothing to declare, use the green lane. If you're carrying dutiable goods or restricted items, use the red lane.

Frequently asked questions

No, the 30-day visa-free period is not extendable for Hong Kong passport holders. If you need to stay longer, you must leave Singapore before the 30 days are up and re-enter, but be aware that immigration may question frequent back-to-back visits.
Yes, all travellers entering Singapore must submit an electronic SG Arrival Card within 3 days before arrival. It's free and available on the ICA website or MyICA Mobile app. You'll get a confirmation email — keep it handy.
You will likely be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry at Singapore immigration. Renew your passport before traveling. The 6-month validity is strictly enforced.
Yes, you can enter via the Woodlands or Tuas checkpoints from Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The same visa-free rules apply: 30 days, valid passport, and you'll need to have submitted an SG Arrival Card. Expect longer queues during peak hours.
No, if you're transiting and not passing through immigration (staying airside), you don't need a visa. But if you plan to leave the transit area to enter Singapore, you'll need to meet the visa-free requirements (passport validity, onward ticket, SG Arrival Card).
If denied entry, you'll be placed in a holding area and put on the next flight back to your origin. You may be banned from re-entering for a period. Common reasons: insufficient funds, no return ticket, or previous overstay. You can appeal to ICA, but it's best to avoid this by having all documents ready.
No, the 30-day visa-free entry is for tourism, business meetings, and social visits only. You cannot work or study without the appropriate work pass or student visa. Doing so is illegal and can result in deportation and a ban.
