Hong Kong passport holders need an eVisa to enter Tajikistan. The process is entirely online and straightforward — no embassy visit required. As of 2026, the eVisa is the standard entry method for tourism and short business trips.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Tajikistan eVisa at evisa.tj before you fly. Processing takes 3–5 working days for most nationalities. Single-entry eVisa costs $50 USD, double-entry $80 USD — pay online with a credit card.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Hong Kong passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Tajikistan. Airlines at Hong Kong International Airport will check this before letting you board.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Dushanbe International Airport routinely ask for a printed or digital onward ticket. Have a return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready to show.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border officers may ask where you're staying. Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from a host in Tajikistan. A simple Booking.com confirmation works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officials can request evidence of sufficient funds for your stay. Have a bank statement or a credit card with a reasonable limit ready — $50 USD per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Tajikistan, not from when you apply for the eVisa. If it's close to expiring, renew it first.
eVisa is single-entry only
The eVisa allows one entry. If you leave Tajikistan and want to come back, you'll need to apply for a new eVisa. Plan your itinerary accordingly.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Tajikistan eVisa website (evisa.tj). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email as a PDF.
2
Print or save your eVisa
Once approved, print a paper copy of the eVisa and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at the immigration counter when you arrive in Tajikistan.
3
Prepare supporting documents
Have your return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance ready. Keep digital copies on your phone and paper backups in your carry-on.
4
Arrive at Dushanbe International Airport
Most flights land at Dushanbe International Airport (DYU). After deplaning, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for foreign nationals. Have your passport, eVisa, and boarding pass ready.
5
Go through immigration
Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask about your hotel and return flight. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with an entry stamp. The process usually takes 2–5 minutes per person.
6
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim. Then head to customs — green channel if you have nothing to declare, red channel if you do. Exit into the arrivals hall.
