Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire 15-day stay. Iran does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but airlines often enforce it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Iran
Immigration officers at Imam Khomeini and Mehrabad airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they may deny boarding if you don't have one.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask for your address in Iran — having the booking confirmation speeds things up.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have cash (euros or US dollars) or a bank statement showing enough funds for 15 days. Credit cards issued outside Iran don't work here — bring enough cash for your trip.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you won't be allowed to fly.
Women must cover their hair in public
All women, including foreign tourists, must wear a headscarf (hijab) in public. Loose-fitting clothing covering arms and legs is also required. This applies from the moment you step out of the airport.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at an international airport
Fly into Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA) in Tehran or other international airports like Shiraz, Isfahan, or Mashhad. There are no visa-on-arrival counters for Croatians since you enter visa-free.
2
Queue at immigration
Join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport, return ticket (printed or on phone), and accommodation address ready. The officer will stamp your passport for 15 days.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After the stamp, collect your bags from the carousel and proceed through customs. No additional forms or fees are required.
