Australia entry requirements for Hungary passport holders
Hungarian passport holders need a visa to enter Australia in 2026. The most common option is the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), which you apply for online before you travel. Plan ahead — processing can take a few days.

Transiting through Australia
Hungarian passport holders transiting through Australia are generally exempt from a transit visa if they hold a valid ETA or another valid Australian visa. If you do not hold a visa and are only transiting airside for less than 8 hours, you may be eligible for a Transit visa (subclass 771) – but it is not automatic. Check with the airline.
- If you hold a valid ETA or other Australian visa, no transit visa is needed.
- If you are a citizen of Hungary, you are not normally required to obtain a transit visa for airside transit, but you must hold a valid visa for your final destination and meet health/character requirements.
