Border officers have discretion
Even though you don't need a visa, the border officer can refuse entry if they believe you won't leave, don't have enough money, or are planning to work illegally. Always carry proof of onward travel and accommodation.
Healthcare is not free
UK hospitals charge visitors for treatment. A simple emergency room visit can cost £150+. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
What happens at the border

Arrive at UK border control
At any UK airport or port, join the 'All Other Passports' queue (not the eGates for UK/EU). Hand over your passport. The officer will ask a few questions: purpose of visit, where you're staying, how long, and when you leave. Answer clearly and honestly.

Present supporting documents if asked
If the officer requests it, show your return ticket, accommodation booking, and proof of funds. Keep these in your hand luggage, not checked bags.

Get your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (usually 180 days). Check the stamp before walking away. If the date is wrong, ask for a correction immediately.

Collect luggage and exit
After border control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There are no further checks unless you have goods to declare.
