Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Hungarian passport only needs to be valid for the length of your stay in Paraguay. Airlines sometimes ask for 6 months validity — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Paraguay
Immigration officers at Silvio Pettirossi Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing you leave within 90 days.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Officers may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing access to roughly 500 USD or equivalent. Paraguay doesn't enforce a fixed minimum, but having proof avoids delays.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Paraguay, not from when you leave. If it expires sooner, you'll be turned away.
No visa, no fees, no forms
Hungarian passport holders get 90 days visa-free with zero paperwork. Just your passport and a return ticket.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport (ASU) or land border
Most visitors fly into Asunción. At the airport, follow signs to 'Migración' after baggage claim. For land borders (e.g., from Argentina or Brazil), you'll find an immigration booth at the crossing.
2
Present your passport and ticket
Hand over your passport and, if asked, your return/onward ticket. The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in. No forms to fill out.
3
Receive your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and writes '90 days' by hand. That's it — you're in. Keep the stamp visible in case you need to show it later.
