Indonesian passport holders need a visa to enter Kenya. You must apply for an e-Visa online before you travel. This requirement is in place for 2026.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Kenya eVisa
Apply online at the Kenya eTA portal before departure. The eVisa costs around $30–$50 USD depending on type and is usually processed within 2–3 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at JKIA will ask to see it.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Kenya. Airlines at Soekarno-Hatta and Ngurah Rai will check this before boarding — no exceptions.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport routinely asks for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they may also check that your onward flight is within the eVisa validity period.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Kenya. Immigration officers sometimes ask for this, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a recent bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay — a credit card alone isn't always accepted.Recommended
Apply for your e-Visa well in advance
Don't wait until the last minute. Processing can take up to a week, and you won't be allowed to board without an approved visa.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your e-Visa, passport, and booking confirmations as PDFs on your phone. Also keep a printed copy of your e-Visa in your carry-on.
