What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Mozambique eVisa portal, fill out the application form with your personal and passport details, upload a recent passport-style photo and a copy of your passport bio page, and pay the visa fee online. Processing typically takes 3 to 5 business days.
2
Receive your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive an email with your eVisa approval document. Print a copy to carry with you — you'll need to show it at check-in and to immigration officers on arrival.
3
Arrive at Maputo International Airport (or other entry point)
When you land, go to the immigration queue for 'Visas' or 'Foreigners'. Present your passport, printed eVisa, and any other documents (return ticket, accommodation). The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day entry permit.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, proceed to baggage claim and customs. Keep your passport and entry stamp safe — you'll need them when you leave the country.

Frequently asked questions

Processing usually takes 3 to 5 business days, but it can take longer during peak periods. It's best to apply at least a week before your planned travel date to avoid delays.
The fee varies depending on the type of visa and processing speed. Standard single-entry tourist visas typically cost around $50–$80 USD, but check the official portal for the exact amount at the time of application.
No, the eVisa for Indonesian citizens is not extendable. You must leave the country before the 30 days are up. If you need to stay longer, you'd have to exit and re-enter with a new visa.
You will be denied entry. There is no visa-on-arrival option for Indonesian passport holders. You must have the approved eVisa before you board your flight.
Only if you are arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission. If you're coming directly from Indonesia, it's not required, but if you've been in an at-risk country within the last 6 days, you'll need the certificate.
The eVisa is accepted at major international airports like Maputo, Beira, and Nampula, as well as at most land border posts. However, it's always safer to enter through a major airport to avoid any issues with less-equipped border crossings.
You'll need your passport (valid 6 months), the printed eVisa approval, a return or onward ticket, and proof of accommodation. Have these ready in your hand luggage, not in your checked bag.
