Required for entry

Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmations or an invitation letter from your host in Taiwan. Officers rarely ask, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds

Apply well in advance
Visa processing can take 5–10 working days or longer. Don't book non-refundable flights until you have your visa approval in hand.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your visa approval, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation as PDFs on your phone. Also print paper copies — phone batteries die, and not all immigration counters accept digital copies.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a visa online
Go to the Taiwan Visa Application System (visawebapp.boca.gov.tw) and fill out the application. Upload your passport photo, passport scan, and any supporting documents. Pay the visa fee and submit. Processing typically takes 5–10 working days, but can be longer.
2
Wait for visa approval
Check your application status online. Once approved, you'll receive a visa certificate or sticker. Print it out and keep it with your passport.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Before you fly, gather: your passport (6+ months validity), printed visa approval, return ticket, first night accommodation confirmation, and travel insurance documents. Keep copies on your phone too.
4
Arrive at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) or Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH)
At immigration, present your passport and visa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly. After clearance, you'll receive an entry stamp with your allowed stay period.
