Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host ready. Immigration may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Carry at least $500 USD in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to show you can support yourself during your stay.Recommended
Cash only at visa counter
The visa-on-arrival counter only accepts US dollars in cash. No credit cards, no Cambodian riel. Have the exact amount ready — change may not be available.
Photo booth available at airports
If you forget your passport photo, both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports have photo booths near the visa counter. They cost about USD 5 and take a few minutes.

You'll get these on the plane or at the visa counter. Fill them out in capital letters before you queue.

At Phnom Penh (PNH) or Siem Reap (REP) airports, follow signs for 'Visa on Arrival'. Hand over your passport, photo, completed form, and fee.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, tourist visas can be extended once for 30 days at the Immigration Department in Phnom Penh or through a travel agent. The cost is around USD 45–50. Ordinary visas can be extended multiple times.
Visa on arrival is available at most major land border crossings with Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos. The process is the same — passport, photo, fee. Some smaller crossings may not offer it, so check ahead.
Yes, Cambodia offers an e-visa for Irish passport holders. It costs USD 36 plus a processing fee, and takes 3 business days. You enter through Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or Sihanoukville airports, plus a few land borders. It saves you queuing at the visa counter.
Overstay costs USD 10 per day, capped at USD 500. You pay at immigration when you leave. Avoid it — it's expensive and can cause problems for future travel.
Technically yes — immigration wants proof you'll leave Cambodia. A bus or train ticket to a neighbouring country works. If you don't have one, a refundable flight out is a safe bet.
Both are tourist visas (T-class) valid for 30 days. The e-visa is pre-approved, so you skip the visa counter and go straight to immigration. The visa on arrival requires queuing at the counter. Both cost about the same.
You'll need to fill out a new one at immigration when you leave. It's a minor hassle but not a big deal. Keep it safe in your passport.
