Taiwan entry requirements for Ireland passport holders
Irish passport holders can visit Taiwan visa-free for up to 90 days. This has been the case for years and remains in effect for 2026. No visa application needed — just show up with the right documents.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Valid passport Must cover your entire stay in Taiwan | Your Irish passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your 90-day stay. Taiwan does not enforce a 6-month validity rule for Irish passport holders, but airlines sometimes ask for it — check with your carrier before departure. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Outbound travel proof | Immigration officers at Taoyuan and Kaohsiung airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket within 90 days. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this before stamping you in. | Recommended |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or host invitation | Keep your hotel confirmation or a letter from your host handy. Officers rarely ask for it, but if they do, a printed booking confirmation is the easiest way to avoid delays. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Sufficient cash or bank statement | Taiwan does not publish a minimum amount, but having access to around NT$10,000 (€300) per day or a credit card with a decent limit covers you. Officers almost never check this for Irish passport holders, but it's smart to have a bank statement or card ready. | Recommended |
