Israeli passport holders need an eVisa to enter Myanmar. The eVisa is valid for tourism and business, and you must apply online before you travel. As of 2026, the process is straightforward but requires careful attention to passport validity and onward travel.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Myanmar. Apply at the official Myanmar eVisa Portal (evisa.moip.gov.mm) at least 3 business days before your flight. The eVisa is valid for 90 days from issue and allows a single entry for up to 28 days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Myanmar. Immigration at Yangon and Mandalay airports strictly enforces this — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight out of Myanmar. Airlines also check this at check-in — have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. This is not always checked, but better to have it.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers may ask for evidence of sufficient funds for your stay. Carry cash (USD is widely accepted) or a bank statement showing at least $300–$500 for a short trip.Recommended
eVisa only for tourism or business
The eVisa is for tourism or business visits only. If you're planning to work, study, or volunteer, you need a different visa. Apply through a Myanmar embassy or consulate before you travel.
Keep a digital copy of everything
Save your eVisa, passport, and travel documents as PDFs or photos on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose your printed copy, you can show the digital version at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 USD) with a credit card. Processing takes 3-5 business days for most applicants.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
You'll get an approval email with a PDF attachment. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. Immigration at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airports will check it when you arrive.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
Have your passport, eVisa printout, return ticket, and hotel booking ready. Keep them in an easily accessible pocket. At immigration, hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask to see your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly and politely.
4
Get your passport stamped
The officer will stamp your passport with your entry date and allowed stay (usually 28 days). Check the stamp before leaving the counter. If anything looks wrong, ask the officer to correct it immediately.

Frequently asked questions

Typically 3-5 business days. Apply at least a week before your flight to be safe. Processing can take longer during holidays or if there are errors in your application.
No, the eVisa is not extendable. You must leave before it expires (usually 28 days). If you want to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a different visa type before you travel.
Your eVisa application will be rejected. You need a passport valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. Renew your passport first, then apply.
If you're transiting through Yangon or Mandalay and don't leave the airport, you generally don't need a visa. But check with your airline — some require a visa even for transit. If you plan to leave the airport, you need the eVisa.
Yes, but only at specific border crossings. The eVisa is valid for entry at Yangon, Mandalay, and Naypyidaw airports, plus certain land borders like Tachileik and Myawaddy. Check the official eVisa site for the full list.
You'll get an email explaining the reason. Common issues include incorrect photo, insufficient passport validity, or incomplete information. You can reapply, but you'll need to pay the fee again (around $50 USD). Contact the eVisa help desk if you're unsure why it was rejected.
Not required by law, but strongly recommended. Myanmar's healthcare is basic, and serious medical issues often require evacuation to Thailand or Singapore. A good policy covers evacuation and hospital stays. Without it, you could be looking at thousands of dollars in costs.
