What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Gather all required documents: passport, photos, application form, itinerary, financial proof, and employment/study proof. Make photocopies of everything — the embassy will keep the originals of some documents.
2
Submit your application at the embassy/consulate
Visit the nearest South Korean embassy or consulate in India (e.g., in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, or Kolkata). You must apply in person — no mail-in applications. Bring all documents and pay the fee. Some consulates require an appointment, so book ahead.
3
Wait for processing
Processing typically takes 5-7 working days, but can take longer during peak seasons. You may be asked for additional documents or an interview. Track your application status online if the embassy provides that service.
4
Collect your passport with visa
Once approved, you'll get your passport back with the visa sticker. Check the visa's validity dates and the number of entries. If anything looks wrong, contact the embassy immediately.
5
Arrive at Incheon or Gimhae airport
On arrival, go to the 'Foreign Passport' queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready. The immigration officer may ask about your purpose of visit and accommodation. They'll stamp your passport with your entry date and allowed stay duration.
