All travelers must complete the Philippines e-Arrival Card online within 72 hours before departure. Without the QR code, you'll be held up at immigration. Do it on the official site: https://etravel.gov.ph

Philippine immigration and airlines both require your passport to be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date. If it's even a day short, you'll be denied boarding. Check your passport now.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you travel, gather your passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance. Save digital copies on your phone.
2
Fill out the e-Arrival Card
Complete the Philippines e-Arrival Card online within 72 hours before your flight. You'll get a QR code — screenshot it. This replaces the old paper arrival card.
3
Arrive at a Philippine airport
At Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Manila) or other international airports, follow signs to 'Foreign Passports' immigration. Queue times vary — 15 minutes to over an hour.
4
Present your documents to the immigration officer
Hand over your passport, return ticket, and e-Arrival Card QR code. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, length of stay, and where you're staying. Answer clearly and confidently.
5
Receive your entry stamp
If approved, the officer stamps your passport with a 30-day visa-free entry. Check the stamp says '30 days' before leaving the counter.

Frequently asked questions

No, the visa-free entry for Icelandic passport holders is not extendable. You must leave before the 30 days are up. If you need to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a visa at a Philippine embassy before traveling.
Overstaying results in a fine of PHP 500 per month (about USD 9) plus a PHP 1,000 processing fee. You'll also be blacklisted if the overstay is significant. Always leave on time.
If you're transiting and won't leave the airport's international transit area, you don't need a visa. But if you plan to enter the country (even for a few hours), you need the visa-free entry or a visa.
No. Philippine immigration strictly enforces the 6-month passport validity rule. Airlines also check this before boarding. Renew your passport before traveling.
The e-Arrival Card is an online form that replaced the paper arrival card. You fill it out at https://etravel.gov.ph within 72 hours before your flight. You'll get a QR code — save it on your phone to show at immigration.
It's not a formal requirement for Icelandic passport holders, but immigration officers may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay. Having a credit card or some cash (around PHP 10,000 / USD 180) is sensible.
Technically, visa-free entry is for tourism and business visits only. Remote work for a foreign employer is in a grey area — many digital nomads do it, but it's not officially permitted. For paid work for a Philippine company, you need a work visa.
