Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least the full period you plan to stay in Uzbekistan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Uzbekistan
Immigration officers at Tashkent International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready — they will check the date matches your visa-free stay.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the stay
Have a bank statement or credit card ready. Immigration may ask how you plan to cover your expenses — showing $50–100 per day is usually enough.Recommended
Visa-free for 30 days
Icelandic passport holders can stay up to 30 days without a visa. This applies to tourism, business, and transit. No pre-approval or e-visa needed.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before you travel.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport
You'll land at Tashkent International Airport (TAS) or another international airport. Follow signs to 'Passport Control' — there are separate queues for foreigners and locals. Join the foreigner queue.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport and boarding pass. The officer will check your passport validity, blank page, and may ask for your return ticket. Answer clearly — they usually ask 'How long are you staying?' and 'Where are you staying?'
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (30 days). No visa sticker is issued. Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it when leaving.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's a green channel for nothing to declare and a red channel for goods over $10,000 or restricted items. Walk through the green channel unless you have something to declare.
