Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Italian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Andorra. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Andorran law, but airlines may enforce a 3-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Andorra
Immigration officers at the border crossing or airport may ask for a return or onward ticket. Since Andorra has no airport, you'll need proof of departure from Spain or France — a bus, train, or flight ticket out of the Schengen zone works.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host ready. Border officers rarely ask for it, but if you're arriving by road from Spain or France, they may want to see where you're staying.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough for your trip. Andorra doesn't publish a minimum amount, but having around €100 per day of stay is a safe benchmark if asked.Recommended
Andorra is not in Schengen
Even though Andorra uses the euro and has open borders with France and Spain, it is not part of the Schengen Area. Your 90-day Schengen limit does not apply here — but your 90-day Andorra limit is separate.
No airport — plan your route
Andorra has no commercial airport. You must enter by road from France (via Pas de la Casa) or Spain (via La Seu d'Urgell). The nearest airports are Barcelona (3h drive), Toulouse (3h), or Girona (2.5h). Book a bus or rental car in advance.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Andorra's border
Andorra has no airport. You'll enter by road from France or Spain. At the border checkpoint, present your passport to the officer. They'll stamp it and may ask about your stay and return plans.
2
Show supporting documents if asked
Have your return ticket, accommodation booking, and insurance ready on your phone or printed. The officer may ask for proof of funds (around €100 per day) but this is rare for Italian passport holders.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the entry date. Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it for exit. Andorra does not use electronic gates for EU passports.
4
Exit Andorra
When leaving, present your passport again at the same border checkpoint. They'll stamp the exit. No additional forms or fees.
