Italian passport holders can get a visa on arrival in Kuwait in 2026. The process is straightforward at Kuwait International Airport, but you need to have a few things ready before you land. This guide covers exactly what to prepare and what to expect at immigration.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Kuwait eVisa at the Ministry of Interior portal. The eVisa is valid for single entry and allows a stay of up to 30 days. Processing takes 1–3 business days, so apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Italian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Kuwait. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers in Kuwait routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a confirmed hotel reservation or a letter from your host in Kuwait. Immigration may ask where you are staying, and having a booking speeds up the process.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a recent bank statement or enough cash (around 500 KWD) to cover your stay. While not always checked, officers can request proof of sufficient funds.Recommended
Cash only at visa counter
The visa-on-arrival counter only accepts cash in Kuwaiti Dinar. There are ATMs after passport control, but it's much smoother to have the exact fee in cash before you arrive.
Travel insurance recommended
While not mandatory for entry, medical costs in Kuwait can be very high. A basic travel insurance policy covers hospital stays and emergency evacuation. Get one before you go.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before departure
Print or save screenshots of your return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance. Make sure your passport has 6+ months validity and at least one blank page.
2
Arrive at Kuwait International Airport (KWI)
After landing, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then to 'Visa on Arrival' counters. These are located in the main terminal before passport control.
3
Queue at the visa-on-arrival counter
Present your passport, return ticket, and accommodation proof. Pay the fee in cash (KWD). The officer will issue a visa sticker and stamp it into your passport.
4
Proceed to passport control
Show your passport with the new visa sticker. The officer may ask a few questions (purpose of visit, where you're staying). Answer clearly. You'll then be allowed to collect your luggage.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually no customs declaration for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
