Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Uzbekistan
Your passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your visit. Uzbekistan does not require 6 months of remaining validity beyond your departure date, but some airlines may still enforce this — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Immigration may ask for proof of departure
Have a printed or digital copy of your onward ticket ready. Uzbek border officers occasionally ask for proof that you're leaving within the 30-day visa-free window, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Uzbekistan. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you'll need to show where you're staying for at least the first few nights.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have a bank statement or credit card ready. Uzbek immigration doesn't routinely check funds for Japanese passport holders, but having access to around $500 USD equivalent is a safe baseline.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding — no exceptions.
Registration requirement for stays over 3 days
If you're staying more than 3 days, your hotel or host must register you with local authorities. If you're in private accommodation, you must register yourself at an OVIR office. Unregistered travellers can be fined when leaving the country.

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at the airport
At Tashkent International Airport (or any land border), follow signs to 'Foreign Passports.' Join the queue for visa-free entry. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Immigration check
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your passport validity and may ask for your return ticket or hotel address. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with a 30-day entry.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel, then walk through customs. Green channel if you have nothing to declare. You're in.
