South Korean passport holders need an eVisa to enter Myanmar in 2026. The eVisa covers tourism and business visits, and you must apply online before you travel. Overland entries are not allowed with the eVisa — you must arrive by air at Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
Apply for a Myanmar eVisa at the official Ministry of Immigration portal at least 3 business days before travel. The eVisa costs $50 USD and is valid for 90 days from issue, allowing a single entry for up to 28 days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Yangon, Mandalay, and Naypyidaw airports will stamp you in on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity
Your South Korean passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Myanmar. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Yangon International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready. Without it, you risk being refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking recommended
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from a host in Myanmar. Immigration may ask where you are staying, and having a confirmed booking avoids delays at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show cash or card
Have at least $300 USD in cash or a credit card with available balance. Immigration rarely checks, but if asked, you need to show you can cover your stay. ATMs in Myanmar dispense local kyat, but bring USD as backup.Recommended
eVisa Only for Air Arrivals
You cannot enter Myanmar by land with an eVisa. If you plan to cross from Thailand or another neighboring country, you'll need a different visa arrangement. The eVisa is strictly for air travel into Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw.
Keep Printed Copies
Print at least two copies of your eVisa approval. One goes with your passport, the other stays in your bag. Phone screens can die or fail — a paper copy is reliable.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa Online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a digital passport photo. Pay the fee (around USD 50 for tourism) with a credit card. Processing takes 3–5 business days, but apply at least a week before your flight.
2
Receive and Print eVisa
You'll get an email with your eVisa approval. Print a copy — you'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival. Also save a PDF on your phone as backup.
3
Arrival at Myanmar Airport
At Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airport, proceed to the immigration counter. Present your passport, printed eVisa, and boarding pass. The officer will stamp your passport and let you through. Have your return ticket and hotel booking ready in case they ask.
4
Collect Baggage and Exit
After immigration, collect your luggage from the carousel. There's no customs declaration for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
