What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-visa online
Go to https://evisa.gov.mz/ and fill out the application form. Upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page and a passport-sized photo. Pay the fee online with a credit or debit card. Processing typically takes 3-5 business days, but apply at least a week before your trip to be safe.
2
Receive and print your e-visa
Once approved, you'll get the e-visa by email. Print a copy — you'll need to show it at check-in and at immigration in Maputo. Keep a digital backup on your phone too.
3
Arrive at Maputo International Airport (MPM)
After landing, follow signs to immigration. Present your passport, printed e-visa, and any supporting documents (return ticket, accommodation). The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day entry. Expect a short wait — queues can be slow during peak times.
4
Clear customs and exit
After immigration, collect your luggage and proceed through customs. If you have nothing to declare, you're free to go. Keep your passport and e-visa copy with you during your stay.
