Kuwaiti passport holders need a visa to visit Canada in 2026. You must apply for a visitor visa (TRV) before you travel — there is no visa-on-arrival or eTA option for Kuwaiti citizens. Start the online application at least 4–6 weeks before your planned departure.

Visa application
Apply for a visitor visa
Kuwaiti passport holders need a visitor visa to enter Canada. Apply online through the IRCC portal — processing takes a few weeks, so submit at least 2 months before your trip. You'll need to upload your passport scan, travel history, financial documents, and a letter of invitation if visiting family.Apply for visaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Canada. There's no 6-month validity rule for Canada — just make sure it doesn't expire while you're there. Airlines check this at check-in, so double-check the expiry date before booking.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Canada
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof that you'll leave Canada within your authorized stay. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or onward ticket ready. If you're flying to the US, a bus or train ticket also works.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host's address
Carry a hotel confirmation, Airbnb receipt, or a letter from your host with their full address and phone number. Immigration may ask where you're staying on arrival — having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card statement showing you can cover your stay. There's no fixed minimum, but officers expect to see enough for accommodation, food, and transport — roughly CAD $200–$300 per day depending on your plans.Recommended
Apply early — processing can take 8 weeks
Canadian visa processing times for Kuwait are not fast. Don't book non-refundable flights or hotels until your visa is approved. The application fee is non-refundable if refused.
Biometrics are mandatory for all applicants aged 14–79
You must give your fingerprints and photo at a VAC. This is a one-time requirement — if you've given biometrics for Canada before within the last 10 years, you may not need to do it again.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a visitor visa online
Go to the official IRCC website and fill out the online application. You'll need to upload your passport scan, photo, financial documents, and travel itinerary. Pay the CAD $100 application fee plus CAD $85 biometrics fee. Processing takes 4–8 weeks.
2
Give biometrics at a VAC
After submitting, you'll get a biometric instruction letter. Book an appointment at the nearest Visa Application Centre (VAC) — in Kuwait, that's the VFS Global office in Kuwait City. Bring your passport, the letter, and the fee receipt. They'll take your fingerprints and photo.
3
Wait for visa decision
IRCC will email you once a decision is made. If approved, your passport will be stamped with the visa. You can track the status online using your application number.
4
Arrive at a Canadian port of entry
When you land at any Canadian airport (e.g., Toronto Pearson, Vancouver International), go to the primary inspection kiosk. Present your passport with the visa, your return ticket, and accommodation proof. The officer may ask about your plans — answer clearly and honestly.
