Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire 15-day stay in Iran. Airlines at Kuwait International Airport will check this before boarding. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Iranian law.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Iran
Immigration officers at Imam Khomeini and Mehrabad airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight booking ready. Budget airlines from Kuwait to Tehran are especially strict about this.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have your hotel confirmation or host's address and phone number ready. Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel. A simple booking.com printout works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry at least $500 USD in cash or have a credit card statement showing available funds. Iran is still largely a cash economy for foreigners, so bring enough US dollars or euros to exchange at the airport or local exchange houses.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Iran. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you will not be allowed to fly.
15-day limit is firm
The visa-free stay is exactly 15 days. It cannot be extended. Overstaying even by one day can result in a fine (around 30,000 IRR per day) and a note in your immigration record.
