What happens at the border

1
Apply for visa online
Go to visawebapp.boca.gov.tw, create an account, fill in your personal and travel details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport data page. Pay the fee (around 1,600 TWD for a single-entry visa) and submit. Processing usually takes 2–5 working days.
2
Receive visa approval
Check your email and the visa portal for the decision. If approved, download the visa document. Print a copy or save it on your phone — you'll show it at immigration in Taiwan.
3
Prepare for arrival
Before you fly, make sure you have: passport valid 6+ months, return ticket, first-night accommodation booking, and your visa document. Keep these easily accessible in your carry-on.
4
Arrive at Taiwan airport
At Taoyuan (TPE) or Kaohsiung (KHH) airport, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport, visa document, and arrival card (filled out on the plane or at a kiosk). The officer may ask about your accommodation and return flight. Answer clearly. You'll get an entry stamp valid for up to 90 days (or as per your visa).
