What happens at the border

1
Contact the UAE embassy or consulate
Find the nearest UAE embassy or consulate in Sri Lanka (usually in Colombo). Call or check their website to confirm the exact visa application process, required documents, and fees. Some embassies require an appointment.
2
Prepare your documents
Gather all required documents: passport, photos, application form, accommodation proof, flight itinerary, and bank statements. Make copies of everything — the embassy will likely keep the originals for processing.
3
Submit your application
Visit the embassy or consulate in person to submit your application and pay the fee. You may need to attend an interview. Processing times vary — ask for an estimated timeline when you submit.
4
Wait for processing
Processing can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. Check the embassy's website or call to track your application status. Do not book non-refundable flights until your visa is approved.
5
Receive your visa and travel
Once approved, you'll receive a visa sticker or an electronic visa document. When you arrive at a UAE airport, go to the immigration counter, present your passport and visa, and have your fingerprints and photo taken. Then you're in!
