Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card
Have at least 500 USD in cash or a credit card with available balance. Immigration can ask for proof of financial means to cover your stay. ATMs are available in Maputo but unreliable outside the capital.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no alternatives
There is no visa-free entry, visa on arrival, or any other option for Sri Lankan passport holders. You must have an approved eVisa before you travel. Apply early to avoid last-minute issues.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to evisa.gov.mz, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50–$80 depending on processing speed). Standard processing takes 3–5 business days; express takes 1–2 business days.
2
Receive and print eVisa
You'll get an email with your approved eVisa as a PDF. Print two copies — one to keep with your passport, one as backup. Also save it on your phone.
3
Arrival at Maputo or other airport
At immigration, hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and boarding pass. They'll stamp you in. No additional forms needed. The whole process takes 5–10 minutes if you have everything ready.
