Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Armenia
Your Lithuanian passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Armenia. Border officers at Zvartnots Airport in Yerevan check this at the passport control booth. No minimum validity period beyond your departure date is required by Armenian law.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof you will leave Armenia within 180 days
Immigration officers at Yerevan airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket before they stamp you in. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready. A bus or train ticket to a neighboring country also works.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers rarely ask for this, but having a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Armenia avoids delays. If you are staying with friends, ask them to write a simple invitation with their address and phone number.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the trip
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 50,000 AMD (roughly €120) per day of your stay. Immigration rarely checks this for Lithuanian passport holders, but it is a legal requirement under Armenian entry rules.Recommended
Passport validity counts from arrival
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Armenia, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before you travel.
Overstaying has consequences
The 180-day limit is per calendar year. Overstaying even by a day can result in fines and a re-entry ban. Set a reminder to leave before your time runs out.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you leave, check your passport is valid for 6+ months from your arrival date. Book a return/onward ticket and your first night's accommodation. Save screenshots of both on your phone. Consider getting travel insurance and a local eSIM.
2
Arrive at the border
At Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport or any land border crossing, join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport ready. The officer will check your passport validity and may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details.
3
Receive your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the entry date and the number of days you're allowed to stay (up to 180). No visa fee. The whole process usually takes 2–5 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim (if flying), then customs. There's nothing special to declare for personal items. You're now free to enter Armenia.

Frequently asked questions

You can stay up to 180 days per calendar year. That's the maximum — you don't have to use all 180 days at once. If you leave and re-enter, the clock resets for that trip, but the total across all visits in a calendar year cannot exceed 180 days.
No, the visa-free stay cannot be extended. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to leave Armenia and re-enter, or apply for a temporary residence permit through the Armenian Migration Service. Overstaying can result in fines and a ban.
It's not strictly mandatory, but immigration officers often ask for proof of onward travel. Having a return or onward ticket booked (even a cheap bus ticket to a neighboring country) avoids any hassle. A screenshot on your phone is fine.
You will likely be denied entry. Armenian border control strictly enforces the 6-month validity rule. Renew your passport before traveling.
It's not required for entry, but it's strongly recommended. Medical costs in Armenia can be high — a hospital stay for a minor issue can cost several hundred dollars. Insurance covers that and also trip cancellation, lost luggage, etc.
No, the visa-free entry is for tourism, business meetings, and short-term visits only. If you plan to work or study, you need the appropriate visa or residence permit. Contact the Armenian embassy in Lithuania for details.
Overstaying is taken seriously. You'll face a fine (around 50,000–100,000 AMD, roughly €100–€200) and may be banned from re-entering Armenia for a period. Always leave before your 180 days are up.
