Immigration officers at Cairo and Hurghada airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Proof of accommodation
Have your hotel booking or host invitation ready. Officers may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked tour package.Recommended
Proof of funds
Proof of funds
Carry at least $1,000 USD or equivalent in cash or traveler's checks. Credit cards are not accepted as proof of funds at immigration.Recommended
Cash only for visa fee
The visa-on-arrival counter accepts only cash — no cards, no mobile payments. Bring USD 25 in exact change (or EUR/GBP equivalent) to avoid delays or having to break large bills.
Visa not extendable
The 30-day visa on arrival cannot be extended. If you plan to stay longer, you'll need to leave and re-enter, or apply for a different visa type before you travel.

What happens at the border

1
Land at an Egyptian airport
You'll arrive at Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, Luxor, or another international airport. Follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Bank' counters before passport control.
2
Buy the visa sticker
Go to the bank counter (usually right before immigration) and pay USD 25 (or equivalent in EUR/GBP). They'll give you a visa sticker. Keep the receipt.
3
Stick the visa into your passport
Peel the sticker and place it on a blank page in your passport. Some counters do this for you, but it's easy to do yourself.
4
Proceed to passport control
Hand over your passport with the visa sticker, your boarding pass, and optionally your return ticket and hotel booking. The officer will stamp you in. That's it.
