Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Lithuanian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Tajikistan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires before you leave, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Tajikistan
Immigration officers at Dushanbe International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready — they may check it before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers sometimes ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A hotel confirmation or a letter from your host covers this — keep a copy in your carry-on.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Tajikistan doesn't have a fixed minimum, but officers may ask how you'll pay for your trip. Carry a bank statement or a credit card — showing $500–$1,000 USD equivalent is usually enough.Recommended
Visa-free only for 30 days
The 30-day visa-free stay is a single entry. If you leave Tajikistan and come back, you'll get another 30 days — but overstaying even one day can result in a fine of around 200 TJS (about $18) and a possible ban.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check passport validity at check-in. If your passport expires within 6 months of your entry date, you won't be allowed to board. Double-check before you go.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Dushanbe International Airport
Most flights from Europe land at Dushanbe International Airport (DYU). After deplaning, follow signs to 'Passport Control' — it's a single queue for all foreigners.
2
Present your passport at immigration
Hand over your passport with the blank page open. The officer will check your passport validity, may ask for your return ticket or hotel address, then stamp you in. The process usually takes 2–5 minutes.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim. Customs is usually a green channel for most travellers — just walk through unless you have something to declare.
