Luxembourg passport holders need an eVisa to visit Myanmar. The eVisa covers tourism and business, and you apply online before traveling. As of 2026, the process is straightforward, but you must meet a few key requirements.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Myanmar. Apply at the official Myanmar eVisa Portal (evisa.moip.gov.mm) at least 3 business days before departure. The eVisa costs around $50 USD and is valid for 28 days from the date of entry.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond your stay
Your Luxembourg passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining from your date of entry into Myanmar. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Yangon and Mandalay airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed copy of your return flight or a bus/train ticket out of Myanmar ready. Without it, you may be refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to have ready
Carry a hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Immigration may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to have ready
Have at least $300 USD or equivalent in cash or a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration rarely asks, but it is better to have proof if questioned about your ability to support yourself during the stay.Recommended
eVisa only valid at certain airports
Your eVisa only works for entry at Yangon, Mandalay, and Naypyidaw airports. If you arrive at any other airport or by land, you'll be denied entry. Double-check your flight.
Keep your eVisa accessible
Print a paper copy of your eVisa and also save a PDF on your phone. Immigration officers may ask to see it before you board your flight to Myanmar.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Myanmar eVisa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a passport-style photo and a copy of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 USD for tourism) with a credit card. Processing takes 3-5 business days, sometimes faster.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
You'll get an email with your eVisa approval. Print a copy and also save a PDF on your phone. The eVisa is valid for 90 days from issue, and you can stay up to 28 days.
3
Arrive at the airport in Myanmar
At Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw international airports, go to the immigration counter. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and boarding pass. The officer will check your passport validity and may ask for your return ticket. You'll get an entry stamp. The whole process takes 10-20 minutes.
4
Show your accommodation and onward ticket if asked
Immigration officers sometimes ask for proof of accommodation and onward travel. Have your hotel booking and return ticket screenshot ready on your phone. It's rare but better to be prepared.

If you stay airside and don't pass through immigration, you don't need a visa. But if you leave the transit area, you need an eVisa. Check with your airline for transit rules.
No, the eVisa is only valid for entry at Yangon, Mandalay, and Naypyidaw international airports. Land borders are not covered. If you plan to enter overland, you need a different visa from a Myanmar embassy.
Overstaying is taken seriously. You'll be fined $3 USD per day of overstay, and you may be questioned by immigration. In extreme cases, you could be detained or banned from re-entering. Don't overstay.
