Latvian passport holders can get a Visa on Arrival (VoA) when landing in Indonesia. It's valid for 30 days and costs 500,000 IDR (about €30). You can extend it once for another 30 days at an immigration office before the first 30 days expire.

Get your visa on arrival at major Indonesian airports and seaports. Pay the fee in cash (USD or IDR) — $35 USD for 30 days. Have your return ticket and hotel booking ready at the counter.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date in Indonesia. Airlines check this strictly at check-in — no exceptions.Required
Return or onward ticket
Outbound ticket
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking
Carry a printed or digital hotel confirmation for your entire stay. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial proof
Have at least $1,000 USD in cash, a credit card, or a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration rarely checks this, but it helps if questioned.Recommended
Cash only for VoA
The Visa on Arrival fee must be paid in Indonesian Rupiah cash. ATMs are available after immigration, but you'll need the cash before that. Bring 500,000 IDR from home or exchange at the airport.
Extension is possible but plan ahead
You can extend the VoA once for another 30 days, but you must visit an immigration office before the first 30 days expire. The process takes a few days, so don't leave it to the last minute.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the VoA counter
After landing at any major Indonesian airport (Jakarta, Bali, Lombok, etc.), follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'VoA'. There's usually a separate queue. Pay 500,000 IDR and get your visa sticker.
2
Proceed to immigration
With the VoA sticker in your passport, go to the immigration counter. Hand over your passport, boarding pass, and return ticket if asked. They'll stamp you in for 30 days.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, grab your bags and walk through customs. You may be asked to fill an electronic customs declaration (e-CD) online before arrival — check the Indonesian customs website.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, you can extend it once for another 30 days. You need to visit an Indonesian immigration office (Kantor Imigrasi) before the first 30 days expire. The extension costs about 500,000 IDR and takes a few days. You'll need a passport photo and proof of funds.
For stays over 60 days, you need a different visa — either a Social Visa (B211) or a Business Visa. These are applied for in advance at an Indonesian embassy or consulate. They're valid for 60 days and can be extended up to 6 months.
No, only at major international airports and some seaports. The main ones are Jakarta (CGK), Bali (DPS), Lombok (LOP), Surabaya (SUB), Medan (KNO), and a few others. Check the official Indonesian immigration website for the full list.
You'll likely be denied boarding by the airline or entry by immigration. Airlines are required to check this. If you're not sure about your plans, book a refundable ticket or a cheap onward flight to a neighbouring country.
No, only cash in Indonesian Rupiah. Some airports have ATMs before immigration, but they're not always reliable. Bring 500,000 IDR in cash from home or exchange at the airport.
Only if you're arriving from a country with yellow fever risk (e.g., parts of Africa or South America). If you're coming directly from Latvia or Europe, no vaccine is required.
You'll be fined 1,000,000 IDR (about €60) per day of overstay. If you overstay by more than 60 days, you may face deportation and a ban from re-entering Indonesia. Don't risk it — extend or leave on time.
