Moroccan passport holders can get a visa on arrival at major Iranian airports. This is the standard way to enter Iran for tourism in 2026 — no need to apply in advance.

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
You can get a 30-day tourist visa on arrival at major Iranian airports (Imam Khomeini, Shiraz, Mashhad, Tabriz, Isfahan). The fee is about €75–€100 depending on your nationality, paid in euros or US dollars. You'll need a passport photo and a confirmed hotel booking.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Valid passport
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Iran. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Return or onward ticket
Immigration at Iranian airports routinely asks for proof of a return or onward flight. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready — they may deny entry if you can't show one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Proof of accommodation
You need a confirmed hotel booking for your entire stay in Iran. Immigration officers at the visa-on-arrival counter will ask for the hotel name, address, and phone number. A printout of your booking confirmation works best.Required
Proof of funds
Proof of funds
Carry at least €500 or equivalent in US dollars in cash — credit cards from outside Iran don't work due to sanctions. Immigration may ask to see you have enough money for your stay.Recommended
Cash only at the visa counter
The visa-on-arrival fee must be paid in cash — euros or US dollars. Credit cards are not accepted. Bring enough cash to cover the fee (around €100) and some extra for incidentals.
Women must wear a headscarf in Iran
All women, including foreign tourists, must cover their hair with a headscarf in public. Loose-fitting clothing that covers arms and legs is also required. This applies from the moment you step off the plane.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at a major airport
Visa on arrival is available at Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA) in Tehran, as well as airports in Shiraz, Isfahan, Mashhad, and Tabriz. Land borders do not offer this facility.
2
Go to the visa-on-arrival counter
After passport control, look for the 'Visa on Arrival' desk. Fill out a short application form (usually available in English and Farsi). Have your passport, return ticket, and hotel booking ready.
3
Pay the visa fee
The fee is around €75–€100 (paid in euros, US dollars, or Iranian rials at the airport exchange rate). Credit cards are not accepted — bring cash. Keep the receipt.
4
Receive your visa sticker
The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day tourist visa. Check the validity dates before leaving the counter. The process takes 15–30 minutes.
5
Proceed to immigration
With the visa sticker in your passport, go to the immigration queue. You'll be asked your purpose of visit (tourism) and may be asked to show your return ticket again.
