Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Madagascar passport holders need a visa to enter Myanmar. Apply through the official Myanmar eVisa Portal at evisa.moip.gov.mm. Processing takes 3–5 working days, and you must print the approval letter to present on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Myanmar. Airlines check this before boarding, and immigration at Yangon and Mandalay enforce it strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Without one, you may be denied boarding or entry. A printed itinerary or e-ticket works fine.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a hotel reservation or a letter from your host ready. Immigration may ask for it at the counter, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked tour.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support your stay
Carry cash (USD or local currency) or a bank statement showing at least $200 per day of your stay. Immigration rarely checks, but it's safer to have it ready.Recommended
Apply early — no rush option
The Myanmar e-Visa takes 3–5 business days to process. There is no expedited service. If you apply too close to your departure, you risk not getting approved in time.
Print your e-Visa approval
You must present a printed copy of your e-Visa approval letter at check-in and to immigration upon arrival. A digital copy on your phone is not accepted.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for e-Visa online
Go to the official Myanmar e-Visa website (evisa.moip.gov.mm). Fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around USD 50 for a tourist visa). Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print approval
Once approved, you'll get an email with your e-Visa approval letter. Print a copy — you'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival in Myanmar.
3
Arrive at Myanmar airport
At Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw airport, proceed to immigration. Hand over your passport, printed e-Visa, and boarding pass. They'll stamp you in. Have your return ticket and hotel booking ready in case they ask.
